People are reducing their home heating bills by investing in solar power for their homes.
"Solar technologies are a fantastic investment, much better than shares or super," said Jessups Retravision and Solar Squad managing director John Thirgood.
"Solar hot water is a prefect example and a major annual bill for most homes. Why run a V8 hot water system when there is an energy efficient alternative?"
Mr Thirgood said old fashioned, element-driven hot water systems cost around four times as much to run as solar technologies, yet they perform the same job.
"I don’t see people taking their V8 pride and joy out and polish it or doing blockies …What’s to love so why have one It’s ripping you off… there are huge rebate to get you out of it and the sooner you bite the bullet the sooner you start saving big time on power costs. Jessups has a variety of solar systems available that have been designed to suit any home's unique requirements."
Mr Thirgood said smart customers are also opting to add a timer to their solar hot water system.
"This creates further savings," he said. Timers can be programmed to top up a home's hot water once a day, say 8 pm ~midnight as the backup option after you have allowed the sun the full days opportunity to heat the water. Instead of seeing the element come on after the mornings shower etc. and seeing the element come on, denying the Sun being used a few hours later for free instead. Hot water, only need to recover the heat to above 60C say once a day to guard against legionaries disease.
Also with Solar classed heat pump hot water systems "According to unofficial tests by one of our suppliers, setting a timer for one recovery period say from noon till 3 pm daily can yield 15 to 17 per cent improved efficiency." Mr Thirgood said for the sake of a couple of hundred dollars installed, timers are "money very well spent."
Jessups have four options available that are all proving popular with customers:
There are on roof solar panels that are combined with tanks featuring heated water thermocyphoned from panels to a tank above Ground mounted tanks with roof panels that use a pump to recirculate heated hot water through its tank.
